A new opinion poll in New Hebrides shows that nearly half the people surveyed want the national government to be re-run. The survey of nearly 1,000 people showed that 43% want the current Cabinet to resign and be replaced by an interim one. The other 57% said they supported the government as it was. Only 25% of those who answered the poll believed that the current Cabinet should continue.
The results of the survey are from a telephone poll commissioned by the New Hebrides Broadcasting Service. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 3%. A similar opinion poll earlier this year found that only 15% of people in the territory wanted the current Cabinet to continue. The main reasons for wanting a re-run were that the current Cabinet did not have enough representation, and that people felt that the current Cabinet was not listening to them.
